Inspiring Others Changing Lives

Shelley works to motivate young people by encouraging a partnership to form with horses and fellow riders as an outlet for dealing with the many life struggles often experienced by young adults coping with indifferent family circumstances.  Having been injured many times during her career Shelley is able to be emotive and sensitive to disabilities that present problems in sport and is well versed in finding solutions to overcome them.

Shelley helped in making an impact to young people’s lives and raising aspirations whilst working on the Sporting Champions programme, and is now looking to inspire your audience by sharing his/ her secret of what it takes to be the best you can be!

Biography

Shelley started horse riding aged 3 and achieved her first Royal International win in her teens. Her greatest achievements happenedr toward the middle of her career when a chance meeting with a unwanted and difficult horse resulted in an unrivalled partnership. In 2004 Shelley set a record by winning every 'Royal' show in the UK, She went on to be the first rider to win 3 consecutive Championships at The Horse of The Year show and the first to win 6 in total in her discipline. The Supreme of show title came in 2005 after both horse and rider overcame adversity to take this title despite both suffering debilitating injuries several weeks before the event.

Shelley has also held an Amateur jockey license and rode in the UK and USA for for Champion trainers Richard Hannon and California based Dick Mandella.  Shelley’s  ability to shut out 'noise' has been her defining feature as has a technique she developed in the USA using Kinesthesiology and  'Deliberate Creation'. Shelley has aligned this technique with the practise of ''Natural horsemanship and 'Join up' to assist and inspire both abled and less abled youths to enjoy the sport of horse riding.Giving back to sport

Having seen the benefits that interaction with horses lent itself to a project with Autistic children, Shelley has been motivated to encourage riding facilities across the country to provide similar projects for Autistic children and their families.
